About Us

Our Mission:

The mission of the Sangre de Cristo Acequia Association is to preserve acequias, their traditional governance and water rights.

The Sangre de Cristo Acequia Association (SdCAA) is a 501(c)3 organization representing over 73 acequias, which in turn support approximately 300 families. We operate wherever acequias are found in Colorado including Costilla, Conejos, Huerfano, and Las Animas Counties. Our office is located in the town of San Luis, Colorado. We offer a variety of assistance programs and educational opportunities to acequia irrigators and landowners - see the Programs section of our website for more details.
